QGL Finals 2000 - Nascar 3 Rules - Drivers must know!

THE PITS: Check your pit stall location during the final warmup session. On some tracks there is a front stretch, and back stretch pit lanes. See below for rules on entering and exiting pits.

QUALIFYING SESSION: The qualifying session will be short (between 3 to 5 minutes) so you will need to get your lap(s) in quickly. No chatting during Qualifying!

RACE START: NO PACE LAP:All drivers should be ready to start as soon as they enter the grid. Watch for the count down. Once the message comes up 5 secs to go the driver should accelerate hard. When the green light comes on try to keep the car as straight as possible.
Drivers MUST do their best to drive cleanly on the first lap. Any incidents will be looked upon very harshly.

PASSING: When racing, if a driver has the inside line, and you are on the outside, you must give plenty of room between you and that person. If you see any part of a car in your mirrors, then you must not try to block. Getting too close will most certainly cause an incident. If a car shows up in your left side mirror, he is somewhere alongside you. You MUST at that point allow this car the lower line entering the turn.
Plain and simple. If the car gets alongside, you give him the line.

CRASHES: If you're involved in a wreck you must exit off the track as soon as possible. Staying on the track will cause more accidents. Call tow truck if your car is unable to move using Alt-I.
DO NOT JUST PRESS ESC as this leaves the car on the track.

TOW TRUCK: Should you find your car is so badly damaged that you can't get it back to pits quickly and safely then PLEASE use the tow truck to get it in. To use the tow truck, you must come to a complete stop, then press Alt I at the same time. You will no longer be seen on the track until you get back to pits.

ENTERING PITS: Use your autochat to let everyone know your intentions of entering the pits. Move down to the lowest lane or apron where available, enter pit road in the outer most lane, as you near you pit stall, make the move to enter from the inner most lane only several stalls ahead of yours.
If someone is already pitting be careful, they may be ready to exit as you make your move to enter your stall. Leave them the inner most lane to exit their stall, then enter your stall. It is your responsibility to not run over others when entering pits, or your stall.

EXITING PITS: When your crew has finished working on your car, exit your pit stall in the inner most lane. As soon as you can move to the outer most lane, please do so. Use your autochat to inform others that you are exiting pits. Wait until you are almost at the exit to pit road before sending your message.
When returning to the track, you must remain on the apron until you get to the backstretch. Use your F2 toggled to help you when getting back into traffic. NO INCIDENTS EXITING PIT ROAD SHALL BE TOLERATED.

DRIVING SLOW: If you are slowed by a wreck in front of you, are just rejoining from pits or are just lapping slowly, give faster cars a wide berth until you get back up to speed. On oval tracks, stay in the inside lane and drive smoothly. Do not attempt sudden moves from high to low or vise versa, especially on corners.

PROTESTS: All protests must be issued to the race directors before the finish of that LAN.
All protests must include the relevant replay file (edited to save space). The race director will then contact the relevant parties. Each protest will be judged on it's own merits.

CAR NUMBERS: You can choose any car number from 1 to 127. Ensure that you have a different car number than everyone else (Request confirmation of this on the first race you compete in), and that you keep that number for the entire season along with the same name.
It is most important that you keep EXACTLY the same name so that the scoring system can record all your positions under one driver. For example 'VRBones' is different to 'vrbones', which is different to 'T Bowes'.

DRIVER ETIQUETTE: Remember the race is won on the last lap, not the first. Most of these rules are designed to get the most amount of cars to the final lap. It is VERY frustrating being taken out by someone doing something unexpected. If everyone drives smoothly and limits the lane changing to 1 or 2 per lap it makes everyone more confident in racing with them.
When in the practice session, after completing a few laps to get used to the track, slow down and wait for someone else to get used to following another car around the track.

AUTOCHAT: The Autochat text file will need to be edited so that your initials or name is in there when you broadcast the messages, ie. When alt F# is pressed the message that is broadcasted is

F1= VRB is Pitting PASS HIGH
F2 = VRB is Exiting Pits PASS HIGH
F3 = <----Pass VRB Low
F4 = Pass VRB High ----->
F5 = VRB is Slowing due to Caution
F6 = Work Together
etc

Other Rules: Please also take note of the general LAN rules and gaming rules which can be found here.
